C.M.W..MaóLow-cost airline Thomsonfly is to introduce additional new flights to Menorca next summer from Manchester, Gatwick and Nottingham East Midlands airports. According to a communiqué issued by the company last week, these flights will be on sale for 39.99 euros one-way, including taxes and other charges.
Thomsonfly´s expanded schedule for 2007 includes an additional 28 new low fare routes, 12 of which will be to Spanish airports, amongst which are new connections to Ibiza and Menorca. At the height of the season the company will be operating 75 flights a week between Palma and 11 airports in the U.K. and 10 weekly flights to Menorca from Gatwick, Manchester and East Midlands. In total Thomsonfly will be offering low fares flights to over 80 different destinations in 37 countries from 20 of the U.K.´s airports.
The airline´s management states that the new schedule reflects the importance of Spain and the Balearic Islands to the company. The Commercial Director, Guy Stephenson, says that the "expanded flight programme for next summer makes Thomsonfly an even more serious player in the U.K.´s low fares market" and is "convinced our new routes will be a great success."
Now with a fleet of 47 aircraft carrying over 8 million passengers per year, the airline was founded in Luton in 1962 under the name Euravia´, changing to Britannia´ two years later and Thomsonfly´ in March 2004. It is now part of the TUI AG group which is based in the German city of Hanover and is the largest tourism and travel services group in the world.
Flights for 2007 are already on sale via the internet (www.thomsonfly.com) or by telephone (914 141 481). Passengers have the opprtunity to book inflight meals or seats with extra legroom when reserving their seats.
