Despite changing their trainer in mid-week, ViveMenorca failed to change the scoreline in their game on Sunday, apart from the fact that their defeat was by a greater margin than has been the norm recently. Playing away against Pamesa Valencia, the local team was beaten 87 points to 56 and remains in 16th place, within the relegation zone, in the ACB league.

Last Tuesday Ricard Casas, who has been the team's trainer for the last 27 months, was dismissed by the club's president, José Luis Sintes, after the team had suffered seven defeats in two months. In the 78 games played by the team under Casas, 27 resulted in a victory and 51 in defeat.

Casas has been replaced by Francisco Javier Imbroda Ortiz, a 48-year old Spaniard from Melilla who made his debut in the ACB in 1988 and has since worked for seven teams, including the Spanish national side.

It remains to be seen whether the new broom can sweep the team clear of the relegation zone, starting on Sunday with a (televised) home game at 1230 hrs. against Kalise Gran Canaria.
