Ciutadella wins golf's Top Town Trophy
Saturday and Sunday saw teams from all the towns in Menorca competing in an individual medal competition over 36 holes at Son Parc; the best three scores from each team over the two days counting.
The winning team, with a net 451, was Ciutadella; the players being Silverio Pons, Emiliano Pons, Joedi Tudela and José Allés.
In second place was a team from Maó (Anibal Massi, Juan Morcillo, Gabriel Llabres and Diego Sanchez) with a net 454.
Another Maó team, comprising Tomeu Mir, Pere Font, Juan Ferra and Tony Brownlow, took third place with a net 455.
The prize presentation took place in the Club House following the competition on Sunday.
A Medal competition will take place at the Son Parc Golf Club this Saturday. This is the second competition in the 2009 Menorcan Golf League which runs throughout the year, apart from May, July and August.

Start of the Open Singles Competition
This Thursday night sees the opening rounds of the Open Singles darts competition being held for the first time in Menorca.
The competition has attracted 75 entrants who will battle it out in games of 501, playing the best of five. Seven venues and eight boards are being used for this first round of matches, the games starting at 2030 hrs. and being played at: the Fun House (two boards), the Anchor, Bar Delfin, Hallissy's, Bar Pins, El Castillo and Skippy's.
The eight winners (one from each venue) will go forward to the second round which is to be played on 5th March at the Casino in Sant Climent.
This will leave two players who will compete in the final on Presentation Night, Saturday 25th April, in the Hotel San Luis, S'Algar. Tickets for this event are 23 euros, including a buffet dinner and disco and hotel rooms are available at a discount.
