Wreckage. An elderly man died at the scene of the accident

A man of approximately 70 years of age died in a traffic accident on the main Maó to Ciutadella road last Tuesday. The accident happened at kilometre 41.1, near the entrance to the Naveta des Tudons, at around 1910 hrs. and involved two cars. Emergency services called to the scene were unable to resuscitate the victim who was the driver of one of the cars.

Three other people were injured in the accident, two of whom were taken to the Mateu Orfila Hospital in Maó and the other to the Clínica Menorca in Ciutadella.

A 35-year old Ukrainian, corresponding to the initials A.D., was admitted to the Maó hospital, suffering from a fracture, dislocated left hip and multiple bruising. He was kept in under observation although his life is not thought to be in danger. A 22-year old Arab was treated at the same hospital for a knee injury but was released later the same day. The third person injured in the accident was taken to Ciutadella where the Clínica Menorca declined to comment on his state.
