The programme for the 38th Summer Music Festival, which is organised by the Ciutadella Joventuts Musicals, has now been released and promises some extra special events for music lovers. Included in the list of performers is the well known soprano Ainhoa Arteta and the World Youth Choir will be making their second appearance on the island.

The festival will open on 9th July in the Claustre del Seminari, Ciutadella, with a performance by a young chamber orchestra from the Catalunya Higher School of Music, Conjunt XXI.

Local musical talent is included in the programme with the Maó pianist Kiev Portella taking to the stage on 12th July, followed a week later by another local pianist, Esperanza Rotger.The World Youth Choir, with 80 members drawn from 40 countries, returns to the island after a ten year absence and will be in concert in the stunning setting of Líthica Quarry on 23rd July.

On 9th August the Menorca Chamber Orchestra will be playing, this time in the Iglesia del Socors.

The concerts then return to the Claustre del Seminari with soprano Ainhoa Arteta taking the stage on 16th August and the young Italian pianist Alessio Bax bring the festival to a close on 23rd August.
