A few minutes after midday last Wednesday a man and woman, both wearing hoods and armed with a pistol, entered a house on the road to Alcafar in the municipal district of Sant Lluís. They found the owner at home and tied his hands whilst holding him at pistol point. The pair of Spanish-speaking assailants, who may be Bolivian, then took a substantial amount of money before fleeing the house, leaving the man tied up.

The victim, an Ecuadorian-born businessman who adopted Spanish nationality a few years ago and has a construction company called Cantolín Plus S.L., managed to answer a telephone call from his wife, told her of the situation and asked her to call the police.

Shortly after, police officers from the Sant Lluís Policía Local and the Guardia Civil arrived on the scene and freed the businessman who has now filed a formal complaint of robbery with intimidation and violence. The police are now seeking clues to identify and find the two hooded robbers.

Everything points to some kind of working relationship between the victim and the thieves who must have had prior information that a large sum of money was being kept in the house. Although no statement to the effect has been made, it is thought that the sum involved could run into tens of thousands of euros, money that was possibly intended as some form of payment.
