The Balearic Government and the company constructing the outer jetty at Ciutadella, Ferrovial, have at last come to an agreement on the final cost of the project - 59,793,395 euros - which is 19% higher than the sum tendered originally, 50.25 million euros. The company had asked to be paid 85% more than their original estimate but the Government is restricted by law to a maximum 20% overcharge.

However the agreed price does not include additional work done on the jetty which was not included in the original project specification, such as that now being put out to tender for 2.4 million euros.

The jetty is now 80% complete and according to the Regional Minister for the Environment, Miquel Àngel Grimalt, should be finished in October. However, although it will be ready for use then, the ferry terminal will not and provisional arrangments will have to be made for passengers in the meantime.
